Three-Spined Stickleback

Thanks to Vivien Crump for sending in a photo of a male Three-Spined Stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus), seen in the brook that runs through the RBRGHA allotment site in Wollaton….

The brook is an ancient water course that runs from Strelley to Martin’s Pond, which is the heart of the Martin’s Pond Local Nature Reserve.  The fish are usually seen on the allotment site just before the brook joins the pond.  Unfortunately the brook will  be deviated to aid the drainage on the allotment site, as part of the unwelcome development of the site.
