Thanks to Sue Marshall, who sent in a photo from the RBRGHA allotments in Wollaton….

Female pheasant

It’s a female pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), here captured skipping past a greenhouse – perhaps an unexpected bird to see on an allotment site, but apparently a regular and popular visitor to the RBRGHA gardens.  Another denizen of the threatened plot which stands to become homeless, unfortunately….

  1. Just to clarify this shot was actually taken inside the greenhouse where the pheasant regularly enjoys a dust bath. I didn’t manage to escape unnoticed and just caught her on the move. She regular visits one of the few tenacious gardeners who still attends daily; he feeds her by hand and provides water, Another photo-opportunity in the waiting!… SUE.

  2. Thanks Sue, your contributions are always appreciated.
