Regular contributor Nic Cairns has installed a wildlife camera on an allotment in St.Anns, and recently it captured footage of a foraging hedgehog….watch closely!
Nottingham’s rich network of allotments is a large potential hedgehog habitat, and it’s good to know that hedgehogs (Erinaceus europaeus) are active on the St. Ann’s allotments. They have declined dramatically during the last 50 years, to the extent that they may be at risk of extinction in the UK, according to a 2013 report. Hedgehogs need all the help they can get; there is advice for hedgehog-friendly gardening HERE and HERE.
Thanks again to Nic for the video – hopefully his wildlife camera will capture further interesting footage soon.
